Harmony Day

On Friday 19th March, Mazenod students Junior School Captain Kai Russell, Junior School Vice-Captain Ryan Peiris and St Anthony’s Old Boys Jordan Del Villar, Shanthanu Kotha, Jeremy Singh and Nethaka Dissanayaka attended Harmony Day at St Anthony’s Primary School.

Harmony Day celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity and highlights the importance of inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. The boys were treated to a parade from each class at St Anthony’s that showcased a range of different cultures from India, China and Africa.

It was a terrific day with plenty of enthusiasm from primary school students and their parents. The parade finished with an invitation for the Mazenod boys to partake in their own parade which they duly accepted!

Melbourne Comedy Festival - Class Clowns

On Saturday, March 20th Mateo Acosta Fernandez of Year 12 participated in the Melbourne Comedy Festival - Class Clowns program. This event is a secondary schools program that gives students an opportunity to work with some of the professional comedians from this year’s festival.

The day started with the students workshopping their comedy skills with a professional comedian. This gave them the chance to receive feedback on their own comedy set, which they then used during rehearsal time to edit and improve their jokes. The day finished with the students presenting their stand-up routines at a public performance at the Fringe Common Rooms in Carlton.

Mateo did an excellent job of making his audience laugh with his on-point jokes and slightly offbeat sense of humour.
