GIRL GUIDES in 2018
Friendship, fun, challenge and achievement!
Girl Guides is a volunteer-run not-for-profit youth organsation that aims to empower girls and young women to grow into confident, self-respecting, responsible community members. We do this through our unique non-formal education programs – fun, games, experiences, under the care of trained volunteer Guide Leaders.
Yarra City District Girl Guides meet weekly during school terms - Junior Guides ages 7-10 (Mark St. Hall North Fitzroy, Wednesday 6.30-8PM), Girl Guides ages 10-14 (Edinburgh Gardens Community Rooms North Fitzroy, Tuesday 7-9PM), and Senior Guides ages 14-17 (Edinburgh Gardens Community Rooms North Fitzroy, alternate Mondays 7-9PM).
Our units are open to girls and their parents to visit– come and see how you like it. Adult volunteer enquiries are also welcome.
Find us online at www.guidesvic.org.au or email yarra@guidesvic.org.au.
Carlton North Primary School Fete
Join us on Sunday 18 March for the Best Day of the Year at The Great Lee Street Fete!
Experience the North Carlton village vibe at this annual community event run by parents and families of Carlton North Primary School – there is something for everyone.
As a destination for foodies, this year’s fete will not disappoint. Sample international cuisine at our food stalls all run by local families and supported by local businesses. Come and shop for second-hand items including quality clothing, books, toys and a trash and treasure. The Silent Auction and Spinning Wheel includes thousands of dollars in prizes and all day rides, animal nursery, silent disco and live music will keep you entertained in a fun, relaxed, family friendly atmosphere. We look forward to seeing you there!

Expression of Interest – Northern Pipe Trail Masterplan Community Reference Group
We are currently seeking expressions of interest from Darebin residents to join a Community Reference Group to help shape the master plan for the Northern Pipe Trail – the walking and cycling path that stretches from Merri Parade to Reservoir Station.
The master plan will be used to implement changes to the trail that will rethink safety, landscaping and useability of the shared trail.
We are seeking members who have an excellent understanding of the issues and opportunities of the Northern Pipe Trail and have an interest in contributing to the positive future of the greater Darebin community.
The reference group will form the first point of community consultation and will be instrumental in shaping the future of this important corridor for all users.
Please refer to the attached Terms of Reference for further details.
How to join
If you are interested in being a part of this community reference group, please read the Terms of Reference (section 12 in particular!) and prepare a submission addressing the questions:
- Do you live in the City of Darebin? If so which suburb?
- Tell us about yourself and why you feel passionately about the Northern Pipe Trail.
- How do you use the Trail?
- From your experience, what are some of the issues the trail currently faces?
- Thinking broadly, what issues should a master plan for the Northern Pipe Trail consider to be representative of all of the users and user groups in the municipality?
- Describe how you will reach out to others and serve as a local ambassador for the Northern Pipe Trail Master Plan.
- What is your preferred spoken language?
- Please identify your age group: 12-25, (b) 26-35, (c) 36-45, (d) 46-55; (e) 56-65 (f) 66+
Please email your applications to public.places@darebin.vic.gov.au by 5pm Wednesday 21 March 2018.
