For the Love of ART

Year 10 & 12 Studio Art students visit the NGV

Triennial at NGV

On 14th February, both Year 10 and Year 12 Studio Art students had the opportunity to explore over 100 artists from 32 countries at the Melbourne Triennial, National Gallery of Victoria on St Kilda Rd.  This was a wonderful experience for students to be inspired and investigate a variety of themes, concepts, materials and techniques that are explored in Contemporary Art today.  As this is an international exhibition, diverse perspectives on globalisation and the changes we face today were a common thread throughout the works. One of the highlights of the exhibition was ‘Flower Obsession’ by Yayoi Kusama where students were given a sticker at the entrance and participated in the creation of the artwork by placing it in the installation space. All students returned inspired and enthusiastic about developing their own folio. The Melbourne Triennial will be on until 15th of April .

Fish sculpture installation

Our Fish sculpture installation symbolises how we as consumers are damaging the natural world. The plastic is to draw attention to the Great Pacific Dump, which is a massive collection of rubbish in the middle of the ocean. Each piece is inspired by Fiona Hall and David Edgars works. We hope that our art can bring attention to the problem of rubbish in the ocean. Everyone is welcome to come down to c block and look at our sculptures.
