Principal's Report

Welcome Back

Welcome back, everyone!  I hope you all have enjoyed some special family time over the Easter break and then with the school holidays, a break from the school routine, and were able to recharge the batteries, ready to launch into Term 2. We have another busy term ahead with an array of learning opportunities and experiences planned for our wonderful students.  We are all looking forward to the weeks ahead with great enthusiasm.

Sovereign Hill

Today, our Year 5 and 6 students enjoyed a great experience travelling up to Sovereign Hill. The students enjoyed visiting the different shops and experiences Sovereign Hill offers while taking us back in time to the early gold rush days of the 1850s. The weather was perfect, and our students took full advantage of all the activities available to them. The gold panning proved to be a popular choice. Thank you to the staff and the parents who ensured the day ran smoothly and was such a great success.

ANZAC Day

Anzac Day as we know is a national day of remembrance held in Australia and New Zealand on 25th April every year.   The day commemorates the soldiers who served and died at Gallipoli in World War 1.  Students in their classroom tomorrow will be engaging in an activity that centers on this special day which falls on Sunday.  Students throughout the week in their Art lesson with Mrs Mann have been making poppies and learning about the significance of the poppy on ANZAC day.

Curriculum Day - 14th May

Friday 14th May is a curriculum day, where students don't attend school.  The staff will be working with Educational Consultant, Andrea Hillbrick focusing on student writing across the school.

For close to a decade, Andrea has been working collaboratively with School Leadership Teams, Professional Learning Teams, and professional organisations to enrich outcomes for school communities. By seamlessly incorporating the latest fully researched ideas and demonstrating these in real classroom scenarios she can gain the confidence of teachers and students who thrive as a result. We are all looking forward to working with Andrea over the remainder of the year at different forums.

Premiers' Reading Challenge

With Literacy being a major focus at our school, we have decided to have the whole school sign up for the Premiers' Reading Challenge and our goal is to have all students reach their goal.

Information on how parents can support their child to reach their goal is included later in this newsletter. Any questions please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher.
