Kings Park Campus Principal Message
Term 1
The first term back in ‘real school’ is nearly finished. Although students and staff have been clearly pleased to be in a non-online educational setting, it is evident that students have missed many important academic and social experiences. The College is committed to doing our best to ‘catch students up’ in both our curricular and extra-curricular programs. Part of this has been our Tutor Program involving a large number of student in small support groups which we are looking at expanding in term 2.
Iron Form Day
All year 7 students were involved in a very exciting day on Friday, teaming together to develop homegroup presentations and performances. Congratulations to all students – a high degree of enthusiasm and creativity resulted in a very enjoyable day for all. Thanks in particular to all homegroups teachers and team leaders who encouraged and supported students in their efforts. The announcement of the ‘Iron Form’ will be released soon!
Curriculum Day
The day started with all staff, teachers and education support staff, engaged very productively in a 2 hour session continuing our work with the Pre-Review Self-Evaluation. Firstly staff members were thoroughly briefed in relevant data sets representing cohorts within our school community then were supported in sharing their data with each other and collaborating together to make individual action plans about school improvements in small groups.
This was followed by other sessions where staff were divided into smaller sessions which offered professional learning for all staff in many areas. For instance, the College eLearning Team offered sessions in Google Classroom and Google Forms to over 60 staff members. Feedback was positive and we will continue to work with staff as they implement their new learnings.
