From the Senior Sports Master
Many thanks to you all for your understanding regarding the tightening of our COVID Protocols last weekend. We will continue to act in accordance with guidelines as they evolve. To that end there will be no afternoon tea again for our 1st XV Rugby. We hope to reinstate this as restrictions ease. On a positive note it was fantastic to see the Old Boys BBQ back up and running again after a long hiatus. Thanks to Jeff Clarke and his team for the wonderful work they do in making Oxford Falls the bench mark on the ISA BBQ circuit!

Saturday 29 May – ISA Round 1
By way of a heads up, Round 1 of the ISA season is a BYE for St Pius X and this appears in the College Calendar. All teams (except the Opens) however, have been given an un-matched fixture for Saturday 29 May, which I hope to host at Oxford Falls. Please do not make plans this weekend as your son will be required to play rugby on that day.
Rugby Training
Rugby Training has re-commenced each Tuesday and Thursday, with the U14s,15s,16s and Opens training at Oxford Falls, while the U13s will now train at Beauchamp Oval. All players are expected to train at both sessions, so they are best prepared for the season.

ISA Tennis
Last Saturday greeted us with beautiful clear skies, just perfect for an exciting morning of tennis. Most of our teams (Divs 1, 2, 3, 4,5, 7, 9, 10) played against Redlands, who unfortunately proved too strong on the day. Div 14 were scheduled to play against Oxley College and this match was washed out. Our Div 11 players came up against St Paul’s Grammar and had a decisive 7-1 win. Congratulations to those players.
This weekend we are playing at five different venues, so please check the draw carefully.
Just a reminder that warm up begins at 7:45 am (or 8:15 am for matches outside of Sydney) so players must arrive at the venue between 7:30 am and 7:45 am (or 8:00 am and 8:15 am for venues outside of Sydney).

Winter Squash
St Pius Squash teams continued in their 2021 Winter Season with SPX 1 and SPX 4 remaining undefeated. The firsts picked up valuable points with Luke Massa, David Thirugnanaraj and Ben Christensen recording strong wins. SPX 2 experienced victory with decisive wins to Ashley Johnson and Thomas Miles. Tomo Wilkins and Oliver Mullen have remained undefeated as SPX 4 notched up another great team victory. Team 6 are mostly newcomers to Pennant Squash, so congratulations to Lachlan Giang and Michael Krizan leading the way to their first victory of the season.
Congratulations to Luke Massa of Yr 12 on his appointment as Captain of Squash. He has displayed enthusiasm to improve at an individual level and is a valuable leader. All players are encouraged to continue to plan for their upcoming pennant commitments.
