Learning Area Update

VCAL

The VCAL students have made a great start to their school work in 2019. The structure of VCAL has changed with students streamed into courses depending on their individual career paths and they will usually be working with one teacher for all of their core subjects. This allows classes to undertake large-scale projects. There is anticipation growing at the new projects which may include getting chickens at the school, running a mobile beauty salon, planting an orange grove behind the oval, selling food products through Manna and the Bakery and a number of other ideas that the students are working on.

The beehives that were built last year have been busy over summer. One of the hives has been re-establishing itself after it split at the end of last year (the old queen was kicked out with half of the workers), while the other hive has been going great guns! We had our first harvest of 14kg which will be on sale soon.
