Year 7 Sport

Girls Hockey

Coach: Ms. Mollie Riddle.

On Monday 16 September we attended the Year 7 girls Inter-school Hockey tournament at Mt Erin Secondary College. We started off the day well, winning our first game against McClelland 1-0. After a lengthy break we were able to develop our strategy and game plan to beat Mt Erin 2-0. Next up was the big game against Frankston who we needed to beat to win the day. Unfortunately, we were unable to get the win loosing 3-0. All girls played so well and showed great sportsmanship on the day. A big shout out to Heidi, Dakota L and Tia who all played great on the day. Overall, we were placed second which was a brilliant result!

Boys and Girls Basketball

Coach : Mrs Ford

On Monday 16 September, 10 Year 7 Boys and 10 Year 7 Girls headed to Frankston Stadium to participate in the Year 7 Basketball Sports day.

The boys’ teams were competitive in all games they played and displayed some outstanding sportsmanship behaviour both towards the other schools and each other. We played in a tough Pool of Elisabeth Murdoch, Carrum Downs and Mt Erin and us.

After some hard fought battles we didn’t come away with a win but definitely made the College proud. Best players on the day included Callum Atkins, Jye Worthington and Carlin Lennon

The Year 7 girls, assisted by our Year 10 leaders, Ebony Carp, Alex Mason, Cassie Ridout, played some excellent games that led them to making the grand final for the girls division. After an amazing day, the final game was a hard fought one with our girls just missing out on the win and whilst disappointing we were still very happy with our second place!! Best players for the day included; Jorja De Chene, Rianna Green and Olivia Ponchard.

Well done on a fantastic day and a very big thank-you not only to our Year 10 helpers on the day but to all of the Year 10 students who  coached the Year 7 Basketball on Tuesdays at the school.

Yr7 Boys Badminton.

Coach: Mrs Jade Brand

It was my great pleasure to take Callum Atkins, Aasrith Kanuganti, Tanmay Kattali and Martin Ling, the Yr 7 Boys Badminton team to the Southern Metropolitan Regional finals on 21st August.

Progressing through to this round meant that the Patterson River team really had to play their best Badminton against some quality opponents to move forward.

These boys gave their all.  They adapted well and learnt a lot with each game.  Their intensity grew when it had to.  Their skill base deepened when we had some set plays that we worked on throughout the day.  Overall the boys worked well in their doubles matches and individually.  When the boys met some very skilled opponents, they didn’t lose their confidence.  Rather, they met their competitors head on and made them worked for every point.

Playing against Narre Warren South, Kambrya College and Mornington Secondary College left us with a total of 7 wins out of 18 games.  A gallant effort from these young men, doing the College proud.

Congratulations boys on a job well done.
