Hello. My name is Asumi. I'm from Japan. I like to listen to music and singing. I think I want to study English and improve my English. I want to talk to many people in Australia. In Japan I go to school by train and bike. In Australia I go to school by car. I felt many friends and teachers are very kind. よろしくお願いいたします。from あすみ

Hello! My name is Anna. I’m 15 years old and currently in Year 10. I live in the south of Germany, in Franconia which is a region of Bavaria, in a little village with my mum and my grandma. When I go back to Germany I will be in Year 11. But right now, I’m enjoying my time here in Australia and with my exchange partner Georgia Douvartzidis and her family. In my free time I like to read, listen to music, watch movies and meet my friends. I’m also in a sports group where I do gymnastic, swimming, running and singing. Altogether, I will stay seven and a half weeks in Adelaide, even though the first week is already over.

Being in Australia is a great opportunity to make friends overseas, to experience school in a different country, to get speaking experience and to discover life in a different culture.

Comparing the German and Australian school system, the biggest difference is definitely that you have to wear a school uniform here. I like Endeavour a lot so far. The people here are really friendly.

Anna Seitzinger, Laurentius Gymnasium, Germany

Hello, I’m Katha, Madison Neubauer’s exchange partner from German. I’m 16 years old and I’m in Year 10 at Laurentius Gymnasium. I live in a little village near Nürmberg in Bavaria, south Germany. I like to meet friends, listen to music, read and I do rope skipping. I live on a little farm with my parents and my little brother, where we have about 50 cows, a few cats and a dog. I will stay seven weeks in Adelaide with Madi and her family and the first week is already over. I already had the chance to hold a koala, feed kangaroos and go to the beach. Being in Australia is a great chance to improve my English because I’m forced to speak English all the time, to make new friends and to discover life in a different culture. School is different in Australia compared to Germany, because we have to wear school uniform here all day but the people here are great and I will definitely enjoy my time in Australia!

Learning Enrichment

On Thursday 26 July two teams of Endeavour College students competed in the Aurecon Bridge Building Competition held at the Art Gallery of South Australia. Students worked collaboratively in order to create and design a bridge made up of balsa wood, string and glue with the objective being to hold the heaviest load while maintaining an innovative and lightweight bridge. The experience offered students a chance to participate in a ‘real world’ experience of what STEM industries may use. On build day students used real life bridges as inspiration and the teams produced two very unique designs. Endeavour Team 1’s bridge was able to hold 1.5kg and Endeavour Team 2 held 16kg. A fantastic opportunity for all students.

Learning Enrichment Leader

It was a fantastic opportunity to view the other schools’ bridges and to sit back and take in each of the designs for future participation in the competition. Although we weren’t overall successful it was an enjoyable experience to be part of a very competitive environment. Overall it would be great for others students to continue in the competition.  Ryan S and Nathaniel K
