Vision for Learning

Year 12 Reports and Learning Conversations
Year 12 parents and caregivers would have received their student’s final College report this week. We ask that families take some time to discuss this report and look at the positives, as well as planning for the challenges ahead in this last teaching term.
Learning Conversations are an important way for parents to maintain contact with a student’s progress and goals. Please feel free to make appointments with your student’s teachers regardless of whether an interview has been requested or not. This is now completed through School Interviews Online. Information about how to access this site has been sent both with the report and via email.
SATAC Information Session
From 6.00pm-6.30pm on this night there will be a SATAC Information Night. SATAC is the key body that facilitates entrance to a range of tertiary institutions including all South Australian Universities and TAFE. This is a very important information session for both students and parents/caregivers as details about both filling in the SATAC forms and other processes are discussed. It also provides another opportunity for parents and caregivers to ask questions as we move toward the end of the year.

Course Counselling
Thank you to the many parents with students in Years 9, 10 and 11 who attended the Senior Years Course Information Evening earlier this week. We hope you found the evening useful and had a chance to ask questions of the staff present on the night. Just a reminder that subject preference forms were handed out on this evening and are due back by Monday 6 August. If you do not yet have one, please ask your student to come to Student Services to organise one. These forms are unique to each student and include the name of the allocated course counsellor for students in Years 10 and 11. Copies of our Senior Years Curriculum Guide have been emailed home and are also available via ECOLI. Extra blank preference forms are also available on ECOLI. If using these blank forms please ensure all information is transferred from your original form. Once subject preference forms are received we need to go through a long and exhaustive process of grouping subjects into lines, matching them into the offerings at other year levels, taking into account staffing restrictions and the availability of specialist facilities, to piece together a whole school timetable structure. We aim to satisfy the wishes of the maximum number of students in the school, but there will be a need, in isolated cases, to use alternative subject preferences.
During Week 6 and 7, Year 10 and 11 students and their families will meet with a senior member of staff to discuss their subjects for next year. This is an important and exciting time for students as they make choices based on their talents, interests and preferred future pathways. These appointments can be made by parents using the online booking system. The information regarding this was also handed out on the Senior Years Course Information Evening. Students who are currently in Year 9 can request a meeting with a course counsellor should they feel they require one.
Students moving from Year 7 into 8 and Year 8 into 9 will have their preference forms distributed in Week 6 to be returned in Week 7 of this term. The longer timeframe is to allow for more informed choices by middle years students who may have only been studying a subject for the first time this term.

Exploring future options
Term 3 is a busy time for Pathway planning at Endeavour! We kicked off on Monday with our Career Expo held in the mall over lunchtime and into afternoon lessons. Many students made use of this outstanding opportunity to talk with South Australian Universities and private training providers to seek out information about courses and future options. After lunch all Year 10 students were able to access the expo as part of the PLP subject and showed great diligence in asking meaningful questions to gain a real insights into possible career and course options.
Students across all year levels also began to explore their next move through the Subject Selection Process and the Senior Years Course Information Session held at the College Monday night. The bonus of having the South Australian Universities in attendance during this night ensured both students and parents are able to make informed decisions about what subjects may be an advantage as their move through the senior years of education. Included below is a list of upcoming Open Days which provides further opportunities to explore what each University has to offer. Open Days are the ideal time to learn about what each provider can offer and have all your questions answered by the experts. More information about what is on offer at each institution is available on their websites.
