VMG COURSES
All Year 8, 9 and 10 students have by now finalised their VMG courses for semester 2. There may be some options for movement at the start of next term but these are limited due to the usual reasons – full classes and block clashes. However we are always very impressed with how the majority of students accept the fact they may not always get exactly what they want but they do get exactly what they need.
PRESENTATION BALLS IN 2020
There have been some questions at recent forums regarding the options for debutante balls in 2020. The teachers who manage the presentation balls at the four State secondary colleges will be meeting early next term to finalise arrangements for these balls. We are all very determined to see them continue and will be working hard, together, to ensure that students who have been looking forward to participating in these events, will not be disappointed.
ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE LAST DAY OF TERM
This Friday, 28th June, classes will be running as normal from periods 1 through to 5. Period 5 will conclude slightly earlier, at 2.20pm as the buses will start to arrive at 2.30pm.
RESUMPTION OF TERM 3
A reminder for all that Term 3 commences for students on Tuesday, 16th July. Teachers from all four secondary schools will be meeting to continue their important work of developing our new curriculum for 2020.
TRANSITION UPDATE
Staff across the four schools have been meeting to design multiple opportunities for all students to experience the campus to which they will belong in 2020. To cater for all the various groups that make up a school community, we have constructed eight transition teams: Grade 6 to Year 7 at McGuire; Year 8 to Year 9 at Mooroopna; Orientation & Wellbeing; Program for Students with Disabilities; Senior Subject selection; Students with Additional Needs; Koorie students; Cultural Considerations and Staff.
Each team has put forward recommendations to ensure a smooth transition for all of our students, their parents and our staff. The experiences include early transition and multiple transition opportunities, parent information days and evenings, tours of school, social gatherings, and practice bus runs with students, to name a few. These will begin in Term 3 and information about events will be posted on the public webpage of each school, in school Newsletters and on the Greater Shepparton College (interim name) site that will become live later this week.
For those readers who attended the WPSC Parent Information on 11th June, there is a promoted content tab titled Greater Shepparton College (interim name) on the public webpage. Click on this and you will be taken to a collation of suggestions made by parents as well as answers to some of the questions raised.
BUS TRAVEL 2020
A form will be given to all students before the end of Term 2 regarding bus travel intentions in 2020. All students/ families who think they may require bus travel in 2020, including those currently using a service or those who do not access bus services in 2019 but may need to do so in 2020 due to change of circumstances or change of campus, are requested to complete and return the form to the main office of your school by Friday 19th July 2019. The form will also be published on the school website. Please contact the office if you do not receive a form.
