Our first Student Free Day was held on 15 March. Staff worked in curriculum teaching teams looking at the literacy requirements of student assessment tasks. They were also involved in developing exemplars for students to understand the literacy expectations of assessment tasks. We then worked in small groups looking at achievement data for students in our classes. Teachers were asked to identify what the data meant for how they worked with students to support their learning progression.

As the COVID-19 restrictions ease within the community there are changes in our school. For schools:

  • There is no longer a requirement to QR code. Visitors will sign in through Student Services.
  • Camps will commence adhering to SA Health guidelines.
  • Adults visiting our school must wear a mask when indoors. This includes to attend meetings or volunteering.
  • Students are expected to wear masks inside.
  • Excursions have recommenced with particular requirements.

What has not changed is the expectation that if students are not well, they should not be at school. This reduces the risk of the potential spread of COVID-19 which impacts on other students, staff and families.

I would like to thank those families who have informed us when students have tested positive to COVID-19. This information is used to do the contact tracing informing families and our staff of the need to monitor for symptoms.

A reminder that our next Student Free Day is on Monday 2 May, the first day of Term 2. We will have the first day of four day training relating to trauma informed practices. This training will complement work we commenced in 2021 looking at emotional regulation. Following the training we will be looking at its implications for year levels and our Year 7 to 12 Wellbeing for Learning.

On the homepage of our school website is School TV. The link is the icon below. It showcases some of the events that are happening in Australia and internationally. Adolescents and young people may be expressing concerns and/or anxiety. There are a range of topics which can assist parents/caregivers in thinking about how they will approach their children using the expertise of professionals.
