Principal's News

Mr Rodrigues

Dear Families,

As we come to the end of week 7 of first term I am feeling relieved that for the most part our community has been coping well with the impacts of Covid 19. We have, of course, had a number of parents, children and staff members directly affected, however, overall the numbers have been low and the disruptions have been minimal. Most importantly, as a school, all is well and things are relatively back to normal for our learning programs this year.

2023 Enrolments

Over the past few weeks we have already been showing prospective families around the school enquiring about Prep 2023. Once again they are coming due to the great things they have heard about Trinity. It is wonderful to know that our school has such a good reputation and that both past and present families are so enthusiastically willing to share their positive experiences. So many of these visitors comment on the great sense of welcome, the calmness and the warmth they feel as they tour the school. Your children all make such a good impression as we visit classrooms. Our local Kindergarden teachers are also a great source of recommendation for our school and we hope that this year we can further build those connections.

If any of our current families have children who will be enroling in Prep for 2023 could you please complete the form below by clicking on the button so we can add you to our communication list.

School Improvement - Parent Talking Circles

Thanks again to all those parents who completed our parent feedback form recently. As one of the important topics for discussion was around student wellbeing and student behaviour Ms Antonella has contacted the "Healthy Communities Team" at North Richmond Community Health who may be able to provide some worthwhile information and discussion sessions here at Trinity. We will keep you informed as we finalize details.

Prayer

A Prayer for Persons Suffering from War

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.

John 14:27

Gracious God, we pray for all persons suffering from war.

May they be held in your loving care and protection and given the strength to endure great suffering and hardship. Transform the hearts and minds of all those who perpetuate violence and oppression. Grant wisdom to world leaders in advancing efforts toward world peace; may they not be compromised by self-interest and blind indifference. We ask all this through the intercession of Our Lady of Lourdes and in the name of your Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, now and forever.

Amen.

THE SEASON OF LENT

  • First Reading: Genesis 15:5-12, 17-18:
  • Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 33:
  • Second Reading: Philippians 3:17
  • Gospel: Luke 9:28B-36:

The readings for the 2nd Sunday of Lent show us that God is truly present in our world. The first reading tells of Abraham’s encounter with God and the covenant which was made. The psalm declares “Your presence, O Lord, I seek. Hide not your face from me.” The second reading reminds us that God has the power to transform us. And the gospel tells of when Jesus took Peter, James, and John up the mountain and they witnessed his transfiguration.

Harmony Week - Beginning Monday 20th March

Harmony Week celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.

Orange is the HArmony Week colour so this Monday we ask every child to wear a touch of Orange in support of Harmony in our society.

An orange headband, orange socks, t-shirt, whatever you might have at home.

After School Soccer Coaching/Clinics

Another request we had from a number of parents in our feedback forms was the possibility of offering after school activities. In response to that we have offered our oval to Soccer X who will run an after school soccer program for Prep to Year 6. Approximate cost $15 per session. I have included a flyer below which will also be sent home with each student.

Parents & Friends

The school year is now in full swing, with Easter and school holidays on the horizon.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who attended the welcome morning tea last week. It was lovely to see so many new and returning faces. A lot of fantastic ideas were raised during the morning with lots of enthusiasm for the upcoming fundraising events.

To discuss our fundraising goals, possible committee roles and activities coming up for the year we would like to hold a meeting after school drop off next Tuesday 22nd March at 8:50am at school.

Please come along to our meeting. Fundraising is hard, yet we aim to make it a fun and social activity, one that benefits not just the school and our children but nurtures our souls as parents. It provides an environment where not only are you contributing but you are receiving too, creating social connections and networking opportunities (and there is always plenty of good food and animated discussion!) that will last for years.

Upcoming events

It is wonderful to see multicultural night back on the school calendar. This event is one of the highlights of the school year, with plenty of amazing food, great company and excited kids. On this night everyone brings a plate of food to share so there is no catering needed by P&F, however we will be selling Easterraffle tickets on the night so any help there would be appreciated. We will soon be putting out a call for raffle donations in the school newsletter.

The much anticipated Mothers Day Stall is also coming up with our first year without Sophie Jordan at the helm. She made it look easy - but we have big shoes to fill without her input! Items for the stall will need to be sourced and made. For more information on how you can help please contact Jenny Gill on jennelles007@gmail.com and if you can, come along to the meeting on Tuesday.

Dental Van

A reminder that the School Dental Service is still here at Trinity and bookings can be made by completing the form sent home earlier this term. If you did not receive the form and would like your child to receive a free check up please contact the office and request a form.

Friday Assembly

Tomorrow we will host our whole school assembly in the MPR. Parents are welcome to join us but will still need to meet the vaccination requirements to attend indoors.

For those of you who are unable to attend you are still able to join us online tomorrow from 2:45pm, here is the  Google MEET link

Thanks Ms Caitlin for running our 3/4 coding club it provides a great oportunity for developing children's coding skills. Each week a group of extremely enthusiastic students meet with Ms Caitlin and work through a Coding Learning Plan using coding.org. Lots of great learning and a lot of fun makes this coding club a big hit at Trinity.
