Dear Sacred Heart School Community

Vaccination requirements for parents, carers and other visitors not performing work

All parents, carers and other visitors attending schools, including for drop-off and pick-up, must adhere to physical distancing, density limits and face mask requirements, and practise respiratory etiquette and good hand hygiene.

Schools must sight vaccination information of parents, carers and other adult visitors not performing work who enter school buildings. Schools do not need to collect, record or hold the information in these circumstances.

Parents, carers and other adult visitors  who enter school buildings must have had two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine or have a valid medical exception, with the following limited exceptions:

 • when attending to administer medical treatment to their own child where the treatment cannot be administered by the school

• when attending to collect their child who is unwell and cannot leave the school building unaccompanied by their parent/carer

• when attending for a momentary period that does not involve any sustained contact with staff or students, for example, to collect a completed art project or similar.

Parents, carers and other adult visitors attending school sites for drop-off and pick-up who do not enter school buildings do not need to comply with vaccination requirements. Parents, carers and other adult visitors attending a gathering at school, such as a fete, school play or other school ceremony, whether indoors or outdoors, need to show evidence of vaccination on arrival.

Opening of the School Year Mass

A reminder to all our families that we celebrate the 2022 school year with a Mass at 10.30am this Sunday. We have a number of students and parents involved in the Mass and are hoping that a significant number of our choir will join Marty. As is the case with all our Masses, we warmly invite all members of our community. All families no matter their religious practices are invited so we can acknowledge and celebrate what it is we have in common.

World Down Syndrome Day

Thank you to all our magnificent students and staff who acknowledged and celebrated World Down Syndrome Day by wearing "crazy socks". We had a wonderful assembly on Monday with students and staff showing off an array of bright colorful socks.

Sacrament of Confirmation

I ask that parents of our Year Five students who are candidates for the Sacrament of Confirmation be aware that the Confirmation date has changed to Friday 9th September at 7.00pm.

Before and After School Care Program

Unfortunately I was contacted by Extend yesterday to inform me that they will not be offering a service as of next term. Please be assured that I will have organised another provider for the start of next term with the relevant details being sent home to all families.

Parents and Friends Committee News

A reminder that we have a P and F meeting tomorrow at 9.00am in the multi purpose room. I would also like to remind all families that orders for the delicious hot cross buns are due next Wednesday 30th March.

Northern Bullant's Football Clinic

A great experience was had by our Year Four/Five and Year Five/Six students on Tuesday when the Northern Bullants VFL team provided a clinic. When the Bullants play at home on the Preston City Oval, I will advertise the game as families may be interested in watching top class football (the VFL is the gateway to the AFL) played locally.

Joke Corner

It’s Saint Patrick’s Day and Paddy and Murphy are working on a building site. Paddy says to Murphy, “I want to take the afternoon off to celebrate St Pat’s Day, so I’m gonna’ pretend I’ve gone mad!” So Paddy climbs up the rafters, hangs upside down, and shouts “I’m a light bulb, I’m a light bulb!” while Murphy watches in amazement. The foreman shouts, “For God’s sake Paddy, go home. You’ve gone mad.” As Paddy leaves the site with a huge smile on his face, Murphy starts packing his kit up to leave as well. “Where do you think you’re going?” asks the foreman. “Well, I can’t work in the bloomin’ dark!” said Murphy

Take care.

Yours Sincerely
