HARMONY DAY

HARMONY DAY 21 MARCH
Murrumbeena Primary School is proud of our cultural diversity, we respect, celebrate, and develop our understanding of diversity through our IB Primary Year Program units of inquiry, Japanese program and Harmony Day.
Harmony Day is a celebration of our cultural diversity, encouraging all Australians to live harmoniously, treat each other fairly, respectfully and inclusively. Nearly half of all Australians were either born overseas or have at least one parent who was. Some of the commonly spoken languages in Australia and at Murrumbeena Primary School include Mandarin, Arabic, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Italian, Greek, Tagalog/Filipino, Hindi, Spanish and Punjabi.
Harmony Day is celebrated annually on March 21. This is also the United Nations International Day for Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
Harmony Day was celebrated at Murrumbeena Primary School this week.
It was a wonderful celebration with the key message of 'everyone belongs' being higlighted.
We enjoyed the following Harmony Day celebrations at Murrumbeena Primary School:
