Rainbow Connection

Bairnsdale Secondary College’s LGBTQIA+ and allies group The Rainbow Connection is very thankful to the Healthy Equal Youth (HEY) Project workers James, Alex, and Reconnect worker Kara for joining us for fun activities at the last groups gathering.

The H.E.Y Project is a youth led group that gives young LGBTQIA+ people and allies the opportunity to be involved in planning projects and community events that support and celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community.

At the Rainbow Connection gathering students found out a little about what programs and activities are happening around the area, and what our guests did in their job roles. James, Alex, and Kara also brought along a badge making machine so students could choose and make their own badges which they were all very excited for. Some Wellbeing Team members are hoping to get some badges made by some kind students next time we have Alex and James at The College

H.E.Y invites youth aged 12-25 to contribute and add voice to what goes on in the local area, so if you or youth you know are interested, please check out the poster below. We hope some of our young people are interested in joining this youth led volunteer group as it provides some amazing opportunities for young people advocating and supporting other youth.
