STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL UPDATE

Hi everyone, here is this week’s update from the Student Representative Council (SRC):

  • New Winter Jackets - We are pleased to announce that an order has been placed for a new, waterproof and much warmer student jacket, which offers an alternative to our current jackets. These jackets are lined, featuring a tuck away hood and zip up pockets with a navy shell and Mater Dei logo. Thank you to the many staff and students who provided feedback on this jacket.
  • Youth in the Community - On Tuesday, we were lucky enough to work with the Wagga City Council Youth Development Officer, Ms Sarah Lehman. Within her role Sarah inquires into the best ways that council can engage with local youth and which are the best platforms for youth to make suggestions about their local community. In the coming weeks, a survey from Sarah will be forwarded to students in relation to this. Please take the time to fill it out and have a voice within your community, suggestions can range from sporting venues to local events. If you have any suggestions or questions Sarah can be contacted at youth@wagga.nsw.gov.au
  • SRC Suggestions Boxes - We are currently waiting for the proposal to be approved for boxes in the Office and Resource Centre. However, the online suggestions form is up and running once again - Suggestions are anonymous but if you would like to hear follow up on your idea, please leave your name and email. Make a Suggestion and we will do our best to see it implemented within Mater Dei. This is only the SRC’s second year and look how much we have already achieved!
  • Recycling Committee - “War on Waste” - Currently the recycling committee is working on an initiative regarding coffee cups in the cafe. This initiative may include incentives for people who bring their own cups and also the possible creation of a “Mater Dei” reusable cup.
  • The Facilities/Maintenance Committee and Wellbeing Committee are also looking into a range of initiatives to improve our school environment and student life.

.

Have a good week!
