ARETE

ARETÉ (AH-REH-TAY) PROGRAM (MATER DEI COACHING PROGRAM)

The Coaching Program has been in place since 2011. As a result of its success, and most importantly due to the continued survey recommendations from our seniors for the program to continue, the Areté Program has now been offered to our Year 10 students at the College as well.

The Areté Program’s core values are the pursuit of excellence and maximising one’s potential.

It provides an opportunity for students to book a thirty minute session, with a coach of their choice, to address any issues which may be impacting on their academic performance or wellbeing at Mater Dei Catholic College. The most common conversation topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Time management
  • Goal setting
  • The completion of assessment tasks
  • Balancing school with other commitments

The Areté Program conversations commence with students (coachees) establishing a positively stated goal. This is the first step in the collaborative coaching process of creating, and then implementing, a plan to target the coachee’s specific area of need.
