Pastoral Care and Wellbeing

There is a lot of advice and resources for parents out there and sifting through much of this information can be overwhelming.
This article by Sue Shellenbarger looks at what teens need the most at different developmental stages.
Some students may need more assistance with skills such as planning and organisation. Encouraging your child to utilise google calendar and sharing their calendar with you to map out when each of their tasks are due can be a useful tool. Some students use the ‘Task Lists’ in their Gmail account to keep track of what needs to be done.
Many of our students in Years 10, 11 and 12 are utilising the MDCC Coaching Program (The Areté (Ah-reh-tay) Program) to develop some key skills including time management, goal setting and managing multiple commitments. Please see more information about this program later in this Newsletter.

- The truth behind media, marketing & advertising and how it can effect young people
- Pornography; what you need to know as a parent

- Rites of passage; your sons and daughters journey to adulthood
- How to parent your child through a sexually saturated society
All students in Years 9 and 10 will be working with ‘Your Choicez’ during the day on the 22 August. We will provide more information closer to this date. Find out more information through visiting their website: www.yourchoicez.com.au.
