YEAR 9 2018 ELECTIVE CHOICE PROCESS
Information regarding Year 9 2018 elective process is included in the attached letter.
INDEPENDENT MUSIC LESSON NEWS
All students are asked to check their times for Music lessons as they may have changed with the new term. Students are required to check the notice board in the PAC hallway and ensure that they arrive at lessons promptly.
With the Wagga Wagga Eisteddfod coming up all students are reminded that they must attend ensemble rehearsals.
It is timely to remind parents that music teachers are independent of the College and therefore, require 24 hours’ notice if a lesson cannot be attended and requires rescheduling to be made up. Otherwise, the lesson can be forfeited and payment is still required, as the teacher has set aside that time for your child’s lesson.
All private Music Teachers at the College are independent of Mater Dei. It is an expectation that parents and students liaise with their teachers to keep them informed of pending absences or sickness. Private Music Teachers will expect to give lessons unless otherwise informed. Teachers are informed of school based activities, however a simple text will inform teachers if your child cannot attend for any reason. Please contact the Music Department if you need contact details of teachers.
We are also looking for more students to undertake music lessons here at the college. Please contact Mr Saxon or Mrs Hall to discuss options.

POSITIVE PARTNERSHIPS
Our College recognises the importance of increasing their knowledge, skills and expertise in supporting young people on the autism spectrum and other diverse learners. To enable this to occur a team of 2-3 staff from Mater Dei will be attending a 2 day Professional Learning workshop with Positive Partnerships on August 15 & 16, 2017. They will also complete other online and in-school learning.
We recognise the importance of partnerships, and in this case, strengthening our partnerships and relationships with families of students on the spectrum to achieve best outcomes.
In addition to the workshop for the school team, Positive Partnerships will be hosting a free Parent/Carer workshop.
September 12 and 13, 2017
The International Hotel Wagga
At this workshop you will be able to explore much of the same information and tools as the teachers and this may assist you during your planning and engagement with the school. This is such an
exciting opportunity and we hope that you will join us.
The sessions that both teachers and parents will participate in are:
- Autism- characteristics, impacts and strategies
- Understanding sensory processing
- Understanding behaviour
- Working Together
Parents/carers can register directly on the Positive Partnerships website from August 2nd www.positivepartnerships.com.au
Please feel free to contact the College for further information if required. You can also contact the Positive Partnerships Team Leader directly:

MOCK TRIAL WIN
The Year 11 Mock Trial team were successful in the first Elimination Round vs Redbend Catholic College winning both the case and the round 270 to 255. This now places them in the top 32 schools in the competition. Well done!
Have you checked out the Skoolbag mobile App yet? A great way for your school to communicate directly to both parents and students. Please see attached information sheet for more details.
