School Captain News 3

Noah:

Hi and welcome back to the fourth issue of captain’s news! In today’s issue, we cover the swimmers who swam at Oakley on Monday and any other important or exciting events during this week. Last report I talked about our St Joseph’s swim team going to Dendy districts in Oakley to compete against some other schools. Most schools got to the event around 9:40am while other schools arrived around 9:50am. To start off the events we had the medley relay in which the boys came fourth and the girls first. We had a great start and it only got better from there. The last event of the day was the freestyle relay and wow was it packed. We ended up having to do two heats because so many people wanted to go in it! As the final event of the day finished all schools got ready for the big reveal, who would win? Unfortunately, it wasn’t us but St Joseph’s did end up securing a fourth overall which is still pretty good in all honesty. Then there were percentages (which I still don’t completely understand). Our team ended up coming first! What a win I have to say and that means one extra piece of silverware added to the cabinet, COME ON JOEYS!! Overall we did amazing and even if you did come fourth or first it doesn’t matter because at the end of the day everyone in our school who went is a winner and that’s what matters. Hope you enjoyed the recap and sorry I couldn’t get to tell you about the rest of the week otherwise it would have just gone on for too long. I’ll write again next week, Noah Mackintosh

Gaby:

Welcome back to captain's news, issue 4! First of all, congratulations to the St Joseph’s swimmers who competed in the Dendy districts all day on Monday, you did a fantastic job! This year we came 1st in percentages which is very impressive and exciting, and 4th overall! Great work to everyone who came, and to everyone who made it to the next level, amazing!! St Joseph’s had a very strong team this year, and had at least one competitor in each event! Our relays were very successful, as the boys’ open medley relay made it to 4th place and our girls' open medley got 1st! There was a freestyle relay for every age group, so I won’t be able to talk you through each one of those but, overall, it was an exceptional day. We now have another shield to keep for the year in our trophy cabinet in the office, which will have our name (St Joseph’s) engraved on it soon. What a day, and we hope to have the same success for those, including myself, who will be competing in the next level at division on the 11th March. LET’S GO ST JOEY’S!! I think that’s enough of swimming now, so moving along to the rest of the week, nothing really special compared to Monday. I won’t go on about all of our lessons, so until next week, adiós!
