Our dedicated staff and students

Cecil Hills High School Girls Basketball Team

As Term One comes to an end, there are many events still occurring for students during the next two weeks. Year 9 students and Year Advisers have started some great fundraising initiatives to support schools and communities affected by the recent floods. If you would like to donate stationery, please send items with your child or drop it off at the front office.

This week's  Mufti Day has also been organised to raise funds for the ‘Vouch for Lismore’ campaign with gold coin donations.

Year 9

Year 9 Geography students visited Barangaroo and Darling Harbour on 25 March to learn more about Urban Places and human impacts on the environment. Students explored the new developments in the area and assessed the economic, environmental, and social impacts of changes occurring in Sydney.

Sticks and Stones

We are looking forward to the Sticks and Stones program which will be taking place next term for Year 9 students. It is an award-winning live performance that explores resilience, respect, anti-bullying, and conflict resolution. It gives students strategies such as reporting and help seeking.

Year 12

In the last week of the term, Year 12 students will be taking part in the Life Ready program designed to support senior students as they encounter situations related to health and safety, preparing them for life post school. Year 12 Year Advisers, Ms Miletic and Mr Dunn and our Head Teachers Welfare are working hard to organise important events to celebrate the success of our students in their last year. The following dates have been booked:

Tuesday 20th September:
Graduation Rehearsal (at school)  and Graduation (external venue)
Wednesday 21st September:
Year 12 Picnic Day
Thursday 22nd September:
Year 12 Formal

School Holidays

I would like to encourage students to rest and spend some quality time with family and friends in the upcoming holidays. A reminder that it is also important for students use this time to catch up on their coursework and work on upcoming assessments or projects. I also encourage them to utilise this time to revise content and practice their examination skills in preparation for tasks and the HSC.

Personal Development, Health and Physical Education

Cecil High School students continue to succeed in a range of sports.

We achieved second place in the Zone Swimming Carnival this term.  As well as this, both the boys and girls open basketball have moved on to rounds 4 and 5 of the State-wide knockout competition happening next week.

The boys open volleyball knockout team have also made it to the next round of the state-wide knockout.

All this is a testament to the dedication of our students and staff who have worked hard to train and coach our athletes.
