Thank you to our wonderful Student Representative co-ordinators (SRC) and team for their amazing efforts to raise a total of $2,600 through our Valentine’s Day initiative.
This money will be used to support schools affected by the recent floods across New South Wales.
Good for Cecil Hills High School Staff Wellbeing!
It was great to see staff enjoying a sausage sandwich for our staff wellbeing initiative. Thanks to Mr Lane, Mr Howard and Mr Floresco who cooked an array of delicious sausages to perfection. Ms Cremin, Miss Sahid and I enjoyed helping with the catering and ensuring everyone had the opportunity to enjoy the afternoon.
Fabulous organisation and wonderful students!
On Thursday, 10 March we ventured out to Cronulla with eighty five Year 10 students ready for an amazing fieldwork excursion. It has been a long time since our students have experienced a practical, real-life excursion so there were many eager and excited faces.
Students went to Wanda beach to look at human and natural features and discussed the purpose of sand dunes and Seabees walls. Miss Truong set a cracking pace as we climbed the sand dunes with some very eager students in toe. Our students certainly gained knowledge linked to important syllabus outcomes and showed a real appreciation for their natural environment. A great day had by all!
Thank you to Mrs Rattos who has organised a lovely lunch of Domino’s pizzas and a variety of drinks for our refugee students every Thursday this term. Student wellbeing and
developing positive relationships is at the forefront of everything we do, and I would like to thank Mrs Rattos for organising this initiative across year groups for the up-and-coming weeks. I am sure all students enjoyed a well-deserved pizza lunch. Learn more on the page titled Lunch with the STARS.
Congratulations to the History faculty on their awesome organisation and running of the Year 10 History Excursion. The students were challenged to explore Holocaust History and think critically about this period of History.
Students had the opportunity to complete a source analysis, introducing them to key primary sources and situating them in context as they learnt the way incremental and systematic developments culminated in mass murder.
The program involved students developing historical empathy as they asked a survivor question. The tour of the Museum also allowed students to examine nearly 600 images and objects on display enhancing historical understanding.
Thank you to all Connect teachers and our Deputy Principal Miss Cremin for their consistent approach to the literacy lessons on inference. The discussion surrounding all lessons has really enhanced students understanding and has further supported students in their development of inference skills.
On Tuesday, 29 March we had a unique opportunity to showcase our school and inform Year 6 students and parents of the many programs and activities we have on offer. The Year 11 and 12 Student Representative Council took our future year 7 students and parents/carers on a tour of the school and its facilities. I would like to thank Ms Kumar, Ms Shannon, Ms Kamil and Mr King for their work in both the preparation and delivery of this important event.
