Technology and Applied Studies - Years 11 and 12

Agriculture - The Year 11 Agriculture class is just entering the new unit of Animal Production. As part of their breeding and reproduction component, students will be involved in the artificial insemination of two Angus heifers here at the College. These will be expected to calve in Term 1, 2020. Following this, students will continue to monitor their wheat crop and the effect of planting density on the vegetative and reproductive yield.

Year 12 students have just completed their third assessment for the course following a raw agricultural product from paddock to plate. The students constructed an audio and visual presentation that explained the various processes through the product journey and how to alleviate any financial burdens to the farmer along the way.

Design and Technology - Students have been working on their Minor and Major design projects. They are exploring design concepts and solutions to solve student nominated design situations. Major Design Projects are well underway with a large variety of projects displaying student interests and talents. Projects this year include a pizza oven, architectural models of real world projects, computer control systems for security, workshop safety and chicken maintenance. Workshop projects such as a car rotisserie, a live edge desk and farm fencing unit, to name a few.

Year 11 Design and Technology students, in partnership with Wagga Wagga Country Club, designed and produced the new Country Club's Nearest the Pin markers. The process has been captured visually with the short video below.

Software Design and Development - Year 12 are actively working towards the conclusion of their Major Design Projects. Some of the software programs they are designing include a virtual reality game using Unity and HTC VIVE, TKinter interfaces and python based games on PC and Raspberry Pi. They will then turn their attention to showcasing their completed projects at the end of this term, while revising and preparing for their Trial HSC exam next term.
