'Good manners and kindness are always in fashion'

Dear Sacred Heart families,

We have had a wonderful time over the past few weeks celebrating what Sacred Heart has to offer, as well as time away with our staff to connect and learn together. Under the guidance and support of Simon we had a wonderful time away last week on our Staff retreat in Mooroolbark. Anna Box was an inspiration to us all teaching us about Psychological flexibility and mental agility. We looked into the science of thriving and the art of story. After our learning it was time to stretch our legs and enjoy the fresh country air. Pictured above is an afternoon session of boxing run by Dara Blake while other staff enjoyed a gentler stroll around the conference centre and surrounds. These days are most beneficial for staff to learn and connect away from the busyness of school so we really appreciate your understanding in allowing our staff time to reflect and focus on collaboration and cohesiveness.

We hope you also enjoyed some time away on the long weekend where you had time to refresh and recoup ready for the remainder of the term.

We have had our door wide open this week welcoming new families into Scared Heart as we held our Open days. It was  a delight to see our Year 6 leaders showcasing our school as they are the best advocates to share what they love about our school. Please continue to share with friends and families all the amazing things that happen at Sacred Heart.

On Thursday morning we celebrated all things Irish with a touch of green and learning about St Patrick. Mr Blake and Miss Moloney were leading the way. The staff were certainly spoilt with some Irish treats for morning tea.

On Friday morning we had almost 20 parents attend our parent helper's course after  our gorgeous St Patrick's day assembly which was  a delight that so many of you want to help and we warmly welcome you back into the classroom to assist or to help with Clubs and excursions.  Rosters will go up shortly so keep an eye out. If anyone would still like to help out please don't hesitate to contact me.  All parents need to have a valid Working With Children Check to assist in class or on excursions.

A few things that caught my eye this week were the amazing writing in 3/4, creating recipes about kindness. Please have a look at 3/4 page. The 1/2 students had a wonderful time creating Leprechaun traps today using their STEM skills to plan, design and organise their thinking before the students utilised the Maker Space in the library to make their traps.

We would like to recognise and congratulate the SRC students who attended their first meeting and had many great ideas to share under the guidance and support of Mrs Collins.
