What will I learn?

Music Studies is a general music syllabus that provides opportunities for students to develop as musicians through engagement in the three musical activities of listening, performing and composing. Furthermore, as part of the theory and musicianship component, the course seeks to foster musical understanding through analysis and exploration of the use of the elements of time, pitch and design in music. Opportunities will be provided for students to develop experience in, and to place emphasis on, areas of interest.

Why should I consider this course?

Students should consider this course if they have a genuine interest in music and want to further develop this skillset but do not necessarily want to take an intense academic approach to this overall development.Ā For students wishing to study pre-tertiary Music Level 3 but feel they are not quite ready, Music Studies can be considered as an excellent bridging course in order to facilitate the development of these skills prior to follow up study at the pre-tertiary level.
