Student Led Conferences

On Wednesday this week we held our first Student Led Conferences for the 2019 school year. These conferences provide an opportunity for students to share with their families and teachers their achievements and learning growth so far. As with more traditional style interviews, teachers also had the opportunity to provide feedback and have conversations around the next steps for students in their learning journey.

We believe in the Student Led Conference model as research shows that the best person to talk about a learners progress is the learner themselves. All of our students spent time completing reflection activities with their classroom teachers to help them prepare for their conferences which is  great way for students to practice discussing themselves as learners. It was fantastic to see many of our students leading the conversation and talking through their workbooks, sketchbooks, assessment tasks and class activities with their teachers and families. We also find that the conferences are always a valuable opportunity to connect with families in what is often a very busy school year.

During the conferences we asked families to complete two surveys; one about our Reporting processes and the other was Year 9 camp. As we understand that not every family were able to attend the conferences we have placed the survey links in this newsletter as we value your feedback. Please use your iPhone camera to access the QR code or download a free QR code reader application on your smartphone to access and complete the surveys.
