Environment Team Excursion to Movies: 2040

2040

During commencement, the Environment Team went on an excursion to see the film ‘2040.’ This film discussed the climate crisis currently occurring and possible solutions to create a more sustainable world by the year 2040. It focused on the positive aspects of society and how these could be used to aid change. For example, in some areas of Bangladesh, a system is currently in place where solar power networks are providing renewable energy for households. This power is owned by the residents, allowing them to trade and share it as is needed, which also supports the economy. The film presented solutions for the overwhelming amount of gases emitted by cars, such as using a share car system, or driverless cars. It also bought up the idea of a plastic made from seaweed that could replace single use plastics currently used, which is something we are looking at in The Environment Team. The film bought up many more topics that the environment team has been discussing, as we are trying to implement some of the things we saw in the film around our school.

HELP NEEDED FROM PARENTS

Our first step will be planting a vegetable garden out the front of the school. We are looking for any parents with experience in planting a vegetable garden who would be able to help us begin the project. Please let Ms Boyd know if you are available to help by emailing her at boy@brightonsc.vic.edu.au
