Work Experience - first instalment of reflections

BMW Group Australia - Amy Nguyen

BMW Product Introduction / Product Training:

• Product training: BMW full model range, incl. all body styles and powertrains: petrol, diesel, electric and plug-in hybrid
• Exclusive preview of new-to-market BMW vehicles
• BMW X7 and 7 Series in-vehicle product training
• Demonstration - BMW Reversing Assistant (in an X7)
• BMW Connected App, which enables remote car lock / unlock, vehicle locator, vehicle ventilation etc. via smartphone app

Successful undertaking of the following tasks:

• Updating the BMW Specification Guides with:

1. The latest official Fuel Consumption and C02 emissions figures
2. The latest pricing

• Assisting the Social Media Marketing team with creating #MMonday, #ThrowbackThursday and other Facebook post captions from 31/07/2019 to 09/12/2019
• Market analysis of the BMW M8 vs its competitors and preparation of sales charts for PPCM presentation
• Preparation of artwork and imagery for BMW M8 PPCM presentation
• Creation of Product highlights into our marketing agency brief for the new BMW X6

Cricket Victoria - Maddie White

What I learnt:

Spoke to 30+ different departments of Cricket Victoria, I learnt the roles of each job and what skills are needed for each department.

• Jobs connected to marketing or graphic design etc would need good communication and team work skills.
• Jobs connected to the players such as coaches, strength and conditioning coaches and nutritionist need to have good relationships with players.
• Jobs connected to participation have to be able to work with the community.
• Jobs like the government facilities work closely with councils and communities to ensure cricket facilities around Victoria reach health and safety measures.
• All jobs interconnected and everyone works together to make cricket in Victoria better and “a sport for everyone”.
• How their pathways were very different and wouldn’t have seen themselves in this potion.
• History of cricket Victoria

I enjoyed work experience at Cricket Victoria as I got an insight in all the different departments and interconnections in the business. I found it good to see all the roles in each department and jobs from the coaches to the graphic design team and marketing and also the participation department. All jobs in Cricket Victoria need to have good communication and team work skills. Having work experience at Cricket Victoria has helped me understand how many job opportunities there and pathways possible. I am still unsure on what I want to do as a career because there’s so many opportunities and possibilities.

Hairhouse Warehouse - Sophia Fredrickson

I worked at Hairhouse Warehouse Bentleigh for the week. The jobs I had to do was make tea and coffee for the clients, wash and dry the towels, answer the phone, book appointments, unbox new products, serve customers and wash the dishes. When working there I was working with a woman called Petra. She helped me when I couldn’t help the customers or any issues I had. She was a good friend and helped me so much. Another friendship I made was with the manager of the store who gave me the placement there, Tonia was so nice to me and she has offered me a one day a week job. The only thing was that, because it’s a hairdressing place, they weren’t too busy at the start of the week and it was a bit boring however by Thursday and Friday it got really busy and it was fun.
