Volunteer Interview

Steve Burroughs

Steve, Georgia and Ava in Noosa

Why do you volunteer at BNPS?

To do my bit for the school and to feel part of the local community. I’m fortunate as my employer gives me 1 day each year for volunteering so it’s great to be able to use this at BNPS.

What year level are your children in?

Georgia is in 2D with Mr Ross and Ava is in 1B with Miss Murnane.

What roles have you volunteered for during your time at BNPS?

I’ve worked in the Canteen a couple of times, helped on the Father’s Day Stall and tried my hand at head lice checking.

What is your background/current role (outside of BNPS!)?

I’m a Management Accountant by qualification and spent many years in London working as a Finance Manager for a variety of media companies including Murdochs Newspapers. Since moving to Melbourne, I’ve worked in a number of Finance roles for Transurban.

What do you do during your spare time?

I’d like to meet a husband/dad who has 'free time'. I’ve always enjoyed travelling and watching sport, particularly English football. My team (Ipswich Town) are currently in the doldrums though!

What’s the best thing about BNPS?

Our girls enjoy going to BNPS to learn and to meet friends and we, as parents, appreciate the community feel and opportunities to meet/socialise with others.
