Our Fortnight in Review

Some happy snaps of our fortnight!

OSHC Garden

Have you taken the time to see our garden lately? Towards the end of last term our students planted many of the Woolworths Discovery Garden seeds and we are now seeing so much growth! The Bower spinach and the New Zealand spinach have well and truly started to grow and the students will be harvesting this soon and using it in Cooking Club.

A big thank you to many of our Educators who donated their time and came in over the holidays to oil our garden fence, water the plants and ensure our worm farm is functioning well.

Our New Garden Photographer

Meet out new garden photographer, Alannah E (2D)! Alannah is involved in our OSHC Garden Club and has been taking some amazing photos of all the plants growing in our garden (see above). Alannah’s photos will feature in all our newsletters for the rest of this term so keep a close eye out!

OSHC Worm Farm

Did you know we have a worm farm at OSHC? Our students and educators have been researching worm farming for almost a year and now our worm farm is finally up and running! Worm farming allows us to recycle many of our food scraps and significantly reduce the amount of organic waste sent to landfill. It also provides so many opportunities to educate our students about our natural world as well as providing students with an opportunity to develop a sense of responsibility for their actions and the world we live in.

A big thank you to the many parents who have been dropping worms off to help us populate our worm farm!

Digital Sign In and Out

We have been very pleased with the positive feedback we have received to date in relation to our new online sign in/out procedures.

Our most frequently asked question is:

“Do I need to give my partner/neighbour/friend my login details when they come to collect my children from OSHC?”.

The answer is NO. Each person who is authorised on your Enrolment Form to collect your child from OSHC, will enter their own mobile phone number and set up their own pin number in order to sign your child out. As this is a legal online document, we ask that you do not share your login details with anyone. If at any time you wish to alter your collection authorisations, please come and speak with a member of our Leadership Team (Kelly, Amanda or Tamara).

Items for Recycling & Craft

Friendly reminder that we are currently collecting the following items for recycling or craft:

  • Bottle tops
  • Bread tags
  • Boxes of all sizes

Quote of the Fortnight

“The biggest communication problem is we do not listen to understand. We listen to reply.” – Stephen R. Covey

Feedback

As always, we welcome feedback about any aspect of the program. Please feel free to come in and have a chat with Kelly, Tamara or Amanda, send us an email or leave a note in the Feedback box on the sign-in table.

We welcome your input!
