From the Principal

A message from the Principal
Our school year is now in full swing and the excitement of learning can be seen, heard and felt in the classrooms and in the school yard. Term 1 is always a busy time for everyone, but when home and school work together, we know that we optimize our chances for greater success. When our students experience success, many other positive learning dispositions also follow: collaboration, resilience, motivation, curiousity, reflection and creativity.
Success will look different for each child, as we know that they grow in splutters and spurts. There will be mountains to climb, plateaus for rest and consolidation and descents that are all a normal part of life. What we all desire for all our students is to feel success and have a positive and happy year of great learning.
Whilst on the subject of positivity and happiness, the school celebrated Harmony Day on Thursday 21 March with some important lessons and fun activities celebrating Australian multiculturalism. For more details and photos, please check out the 'News From Around the School' page of this newsletter.
Holy Week Celebrations – 100 Steps
Once again we will be marking Holy Week with a special celebration on the hill above the 100 Steps of Federation. Easter is late this year, at the end of our holidays, but we will still hold our celebration on the last day of term, Friday 5th April. We welcome all our families to join us in the walk from school and then the solemn portrayal of the events of Holy Week. Please keep this morning free so you can join us.
Also on this day, the Parents and Friends Committee run a Hot Cross Bun event for the children. By now you should have received information about this today via CareMonkey (including details on how to volunteers) and a paper order form was also sent home.
I would also like to share with you Father John’s homily from last Sunday.
