Principal's Report

It's hard to believe that we are half way through Term One already. There are two student-free days in the second half of the term, Friday 6 March (Curriculum Day) and Monday 9 March (Labour Day).

Our Outside School Hours Care Program will be operating on 6 March to assist our working parents. Please email:

oshc@beaumarisnorthps.vic.edu.au to secure a place.

Maths Professional Development

Next Friday 6 March, our staff, along with Sandringham East Primary School staff, will be participating in a whole day Professional Development based around Mathematics. This Professional Development day will be hosted at BNPS and will be facilitated by Mr Michael Minas.

Michael Minas has worked in education for 20 years, both in Australia and the United Kingdom. For the past decade, he has been employed in a variety of numeracy leadership positions. These roles have included assisting with the implementation of school-wide improvement plans, coaching and mentoring, delivering professional development sessions and regular modelling of high quality maths lessons. His areas of interest include problem solving and student engagement.

Only 16 Days to Fete!

Our billboards are now up and around the community and they look wonderful thanks to Anita Layzell. Congratulations again to the winners of our Fete Naming and Logo Competitions, Hannah D, Toby M, Emma Z & Darcy M - I'm sure they are looking forward to using their FREE Fete Wristband for unlimited rides!

Thank you to everyone who is working hard behind the scenes to stage another amazing BNPS Fete. From the Fete Committee to stall convenors and those planning their baking for the Beauy Bakehouse, every bit counts.

I urge those who are not yet involved to sign up for a shift at a stall on the day or to help with setup or packup - signup sheets will be available on Compass soon.

In response to parent feedback, this year we offered the option of a cash donation via Qkr instead of weekly Grade Donations to assist busy parents. I would like to thank those who have made a donation, in particular, The Lunt family (Year 2) - your generosity is very much appreciated.

House Swimming Carnival

I would sincerely like to thank Kirsty Hall (Sport Coordinator) for another outstanding House Swimming Carnival which was held last week. I would also like to thank all of the staff who assisted in many areas and the many parents who came along to support our students.

Congratulations to all students for 'having a go' and demonstrating such great sportsmanship on the day. 50m is a long way and is a wonderful achievement, ribbon or no ribbon. A full report can be found on the 'Sports News' page of this newsletter.

Badge Ceremony

Last week our 2020 Student Leaders were presented with their badges and I would sincerely like to thank Donna Appel and the Year 6 Team for organising such a special ceremony.

Congratulations again to our very worthy recipients.

Early Morning Maths

Early Morning Maths commenced this week for students in Year 4, 5 & 6. I would like to thank staff for providing this additional tutoring and encourage all Year 4 - 6 students to attend (8.30am on Wednesdays) regardless of their ability.

Students are expected to take responsibility for their learning and actively pursue strategies to assist their progress or further their understandings of a concept.

Looking Ahead...

Best of luck to the Year 4 - 6 swimmers who are heading off to Districts next week.

I encourage all families to attend the FREE ThinkUKnow Parent Cyber Safety & Security Presentation on Monday 16 March (6.00 – 7.30pm).
