Harmony Day

Our College’s annual multicultural celebrations for Harmony Day were held on Wednesday 21 March. This was a wonderful day organised by our International and Wellbeing staff, with a focus on sharing Chinese homemade dumplings, Chinese tea, Chinese music and giving away cultural gifts for the whole school.
Our Harmony Day celebrations were a great opportunity to celebrate the incredibly diverse culture of Australia. Harmony Day is about community participation, inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. During lunch time, in the central school courtyard, our International Students, together with Wellbeing staff, served the whole school homemade delicious traditional Chinese dumplings, which were made by our dedicated and generous international students' parents, friends and even one of our Homestay hosts. This was a great opportunity for students and staff to gather and share the delicious treats on offer. The Bank of China (Melbourne branch) sponsored our school community activities, giving us cute puppy soft toys -as this year is the Year of Dog - fortune cookies and traditional Chinese New Year sweets. The local students were very excited by such treats and were interested in sharing stories with the International Students.
This was a wonderful event, supporting our International Student community and their sense of belonging and inclusiveness at Mordialloc College.
