New Staff at BHCS (Part 1 of 2)

Introducing the New Staff
As you look around the School, you may see a few unfamiliar faces. We have a number of new staff members joining our BHCS team this year (as well as some who joined late last year). We would like to warmly welcome all our new staff members. We thought we would ask them a couple of questions about themselves as we introduce them to you....
Introducing... Cassie Eckard
1. What you're teaching/excited about this year
I'm teaching Food Technology, Year 8 SOSE and am helping out with the Year 9 Program. I'm looking forward to cooking a variety of dishes with my students.
2. What you did previously
Previously, I was at university, studying to be a teacher. During this time I was also a horse riding instructor.
3.What you do for fun
I love to ride horses and spend time with my animals. Most weekends, I go to horse riding competitions and compete in Dressage and Show Jumping.
Introducing... Scott Ludbrook
1. What you're teaching/excited about this year
This year I am teaching one of the Year 5/6 homerooms in Middle School. I am excited about the new environment and getting to know the new teachers.
2. What you did previously
I have been teaching for 24 years. Most recently I was teaching at Maranatha Christian School, but I have also taught at other various Christian School's, Government schools, and even in the UK.
3.What you do for fun
For fun I love body boarding. I also go to and complete the 1000 steps every day!
Introducing... Rowena Kohinga
1. What you're teaching/excited about this year
I am teaching Year 9/10 Food Tech and VCE VET Hospitality as well as some St Andrews classes.I am excited about getting to know the students, and seeing (and tasting) their creations.
2. What you did previously
I have been busy being a mum of four children
and I completing my Graduate Diploma in Education
3. What you do for fun
Spend time with family and friends, baking, reading, and going on walks with my friends.
Introducing... Kim Wearing
1. What you're teaching/excited about this year
This year I'm teaching Year 9,11 and 12 English and Year 9/10 and 11 Business Management. I am excited about being a part of such a wonderful community and helping my students through this year. I am also excited about the business that the Year 11 Business Management class will run - stay tuned...
2. What you did previously
I previously had a career in marketing in the finance industry. It might seem removed from teaching but there are many similarities!
3.What you do for fun
At the moment I am not getting that much time off, but I love my church commitments, friends and family but also I really enjoy playing hockey, running, reading and going to the football when I can find the time. I'm also keen on plays - in a couple of weeks I am going to see a hip hop version of Shakespeare's Othello!
Introducing... Tracy Whittingham
1. What you're teaching/excited about this year
I feel very blessed to be a Learning Assistant in the Prep class this year with Mrs Russon. I am very excited to be a part of the children's first year of school.
2. What did you do previously
I started at BHCS in August last year as a L.A. in Year 5/6. Over the last few years I have volunteered on a few committees and did some study. My previous work experience was in HR, payroll & recruitment.
3. What do you do for fun
As a family we have taken up kayaking. I also enjoy taking photos of my family (& creating albums for them), reading & mixed media art.
Introducing... Kirsty Meese
1. What you're teaching/excited about this year
I'm teaching four year old Kinder and I am excited about teaching and being at the School... I just love the School!
2. What did you do previously
I was a stay at home mum and then a Kinder assistant, and before that an accounts assistant.
3. What do you do for fun
I crochet hats, scarves and beanies and sell them locally.
