Year 5 & 6 Soiree - Student Voices

The Year 5’s and 6’s have had a very exciting beginning to Term 3 with the Performing Arts showcase being at the forefront.

A performance which has been in the works since last term has finally come and gone and we are so proud of all the work and effort that the students have put into getting it all together, to be able to perform as wonderfully as they did.

We asked a few of the students to reflect on their experience of the Soiree.

On Thursday of 20th July, there was a 5/6 soirée about Space and Earth, which we had been learning about last term. We had drama, singing and dancing. The practice of the soirée time felt like it was only a little bit of time, with 5A feeling tight with time but we got through it. Personally, we think we did really well. On the stage, people were smiling and enjoying it. For the drama, 5A got the audience’s attention really well. Before the Performance everyone was really nervous but when we actually were getting through everything it went really well. Some people said that it was nerve wracking before the performance but once we started getting the rhythm and enjoying it then it went smoothly.

This year our soirée was based on the theme Outer Space. Each class did three performances, a drama, a song and a dance. Our overall experience was really great but there was also a lot of stress leading up to the main part as we all had to work as a team to try not to mess up things in our performances. Personally we loved everything especially the dance as I had a lot of main parts in it. It was great seeing all the different acts and I think everyone tried really hard and it turned out to be a really good performance. Everyone was quite nervous before the soirée but when we got off the stage everyone felt really proud about performing. When we first started rehearsing we were very silly but when we got closer to the actual soirée we got very serious and we got better at singing,

acting and dancing. We personally think we did very well. Thanks to Mrs Lane for making this happen and all the teachers that helped.

On the 20th of July, the Year 6’s and Year 5’s had an ‘Earth and Space’ themed Soirée. Including multiple class dances, dramas, and a couple of songs, which a few people contributed to each showcase. We also danced with some other classmates.

Though the Soiree itself was exciting, plus a lot of butterflies in our stomachs leading up to the performance. In our opinion, the practice has got to be the best part because the teamwork every group showed was amazing and most dancers choreographed their moves. Thank you to all the parents who came to watch and Mrs Lane for organizing the whole event.

On Thursday the 20th of July, we had our 5/6 Earth and Space Showcase.

We all had a blast, and it was amazing to see everybody participating.

All the 5/6 parents loved watching their kids up on stage, and we even had some parents come up to us after the performance raving about our wonderful work.

Some highlights were the year 6 dramas fitting together very well and how the year 5 dances were performed brilliantly. We think that 6B’s best performance was the Flood dance, because everyone remembered their timing, we all got to have a special part, and we got a big laugh as Nat pulled a ‘dead’ Eva off the stage!

Big shoutout to Mrs Lane and all the teachers for their amazing work in pulling this all together!

We hope everyone enjoyed themselves, and had fun!

On the 20th of July we had our  extraordinary 5/6 showcase, demonstrating our learning about Earth and Space. Each class did a song, dance and drama. In 6C we did a dance and drama about Tornados. Our dance showed how tornadoes are formed, while our drama explained how it all works! Our highlights were spending time backstage before our items with our friends and performing the dance. All the students had a great time performing in front of their parents. Parents, you should be very proud of your children.

Thank You Mrs Lane, and the Year 5 and 6 Teachers for teaching and supporting us the whole way!
