To celebrate National Tree Day this year, which is on Friday the 28th of July, each class will be planting a range of plants in our garden.

Year 3-6 House Athletics Day - Thursday 10th August

This year we have an exciting new approach to our athletics carnival.

We will be introducing our ‘student standard cards’ shown below. Each student will receive one of these cards during athletics day and their achievement will be recorded on them. They will be pinned to the shirt just like a prize ribbon would be. At the end of the day students should have a tick for each event displaying how they have achieved at that event.

To support this, we have also introduced a new ‘scoring system’ – a standards based approach. Students can achieve either standard 1 (white), standard 2 (green), standard 3 (blue) and standard 4 (red). Standard 1 (white) is the easiest to achieve and will be achieved by each student so long as they have a go at the event. Standard 4 is the most challenging standard and will be achieved only by the most skilled (and most practiced) students. To achieve a particular standard, students must beat the time/distance/height listed for that standard.We have added an image of the long jump standards set out below to help demonstrate our new 

system we will be using during house athletics day. 

This new system holds the student’s success and enjoyment at it’s heart and we can’t wait to see it in action on the day.

Grade 2 Briars Day Camp - Friday 11th August

In preparation for Grade 3 camp, on Friday 11th August the Grade 2's will be travelling by bus to The Briars in Mount Martha to spend the day participating in a variety of 'camp' style activities. The activities include Bush cooking, Low ropes course, Gaga Pit and Go Karts and Hut building. Morning Tea and Lunch are provided for the children by the venue. This cost will be $74 per student, this can be paid via Sentral Pay or in the office. Full school uniform is to be worn. We will communicate more information closer to the date.
