Relieving Deputy Principal's Report

Mrs Alice Wigny

Hello from Mrs Wigny

It was wonderful to see our students excited to celebrate Education Week last week and visit the Book Fair. Thank you to our students for your Creative Arts performances in the morning assembly, parents and carers for visiting our open classrooms to see your child celebrate their learning and of course all the students who purchased something special from our Book Fair.

We have a busy fortnight ahead with Premiers Debating Challenge, LAD program for Years 3-6, Stage 2 excursion to Symbio, Tournament of Minds and the commencement of Southern Stars Show Week.

Late Arrivals

It has come to our attention that there has been an increase in the late arrival of students at school. Whilst we understand that there can be the occasional late arrival, many of these students are late every day. The school has supervision from 8:30am in the morning and the school bell rings at 8:55am for students to line up and again at 9:00am to signal the beginning of lessons. We would appreciate your support in ensuring your child arrives at school before 9:00am. Students that arrive late, must have an explanation from their parent or carer.

Driving and parking safely near your school

The beginning and end of the school day are busy times for pedestrians and drivers outside schools. You can help keep children safe by remembering the following:

  • drop your child off and pick them up on the school side of the road
  • never call out to them from across the road - it is very dangerous
  • always take extra care in 40km school zones
  • follow all parking signs - these help keep your child as safe as possible
  • park responsibly even if it means you have to walk further to the school gate
  • never double park - it is illegal and puts children at risk
  • never do a U-turn or a three point turn outside the school as it puts children at risk of harm
  • model safe and considerate pedestrian and driver behaviours to your child
  • always give way to pedestrians particularly when entering and leaving driveways.

Have a great fortnight!
