Dear parents, carers and community
Thank you to the huge number of family members who were able to join us for our Education Week concert, open classrooms and picnic lunch. It was a great celebration of 175 years of public education and the education provided at our school. Congratulations to the students who performed on stage at our concert and all the staff involved in the weeks and months preparing and practising.
NSW Public Schools have specific local enrolment areas, which ensure there are enough places for students who reside in their local enrolment area. The designated intake areas are determined by the Department of Education. All children are encouraged to attend their designated local public school unless there are extenuating circumstances for which a non-local enrolment may be required.
If you would like to apply for a non-local Kindergarten position at Oak Flats Public School for your child in 2024, it is a requirement that you first approach your local school, to discuss your circumstances. If you then wish to proceed with a non-local application, a Non-Local Enrolment Application form needs to be completed and will be reviewed by a panel consisting of an executive staff member, a classroom teacher and a community member.
A huge effort was undertaken by many P&C and community volunteers, sorting out and distributing hundreds of pies on Tuesday, thanks to the support of the many people who placed orders. Thank you! I know the fundraising efforts will be greatly appreciated by our students.
Oak Flats Public School, in conjunction with the Oak Flats Public School P&C, is delighted to announce that we will be holding a Spring Festival on Friday, 15 September 2023, from 12pm until 4pm. This will be a wonderful opportunity for students, staff, families and the community to come together for a fun and memorable event.
There will a number of different activities, events and stalls running on the day, including carnival rides. Further information will be shared shortly.
If you or someone you know has a business, a talent or a connection that may support this event in any way, please contact the school or the P&C. This could be a business that could contribute prizes for various stalls or donations of lollies, hair spray, etc, or any other fun festival connection. In addition, if you are able to support for a period of time on the day running the BBQ or assisting your child’s class stall, please contact your child’s teacher. Any support would be greatly appreciated.
We have made some recent changes to the morning playground supervision for our students in K-2. The Stage 1 Cola area is no longer supervised. Instead, students in Stage 1 should head straight to the Junior Field, where they can play from 8.30am. This trial was initiated to allow our students to be more active of a morning and to have a more settled start to learning.
Kind regards
Jodi Niedermayer
