Art News

Congratulations to this week’s Artist of the Week:

After thinking about how human-created art can complement environments, Ally investigated the 6 Elements of Art and where they can be found in nature.

She designed a leaf with patterns from nature on it, using pink flowers and lily pads as her inspiration. Ally then cut pieces of coloured felt and used her new sewing skills to stitch together this beautiful leaf. The pipe-cleaner stem will allow Ally’s leaf to hang from a branch as part of an art display that will complement the Milgate environment.

Well done, Ally!

Yearbook Competition

Student Achievement

Congratulations to Abrielle Y from 3CF who has recently been shortlisted in an art competition in Sydney.

This is Abrielle’s first time entering an art competition, and she competed against students aged 7-16 years old from Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand.

This art competition encouraged young people to raise awareness and express the urgency of climate action through their artwork; in particular, focusing on adopting sustainable lifestyles and highlighting the connection between human activity and ocean health. Participants are motivated to contribute to the safety, cleanliness, and sustainability of our oceans.

Abrielle drew an illustration using pencil and pen as a response to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal: “SDG14 - My Ocean”.

Finalists are currently being judged from the shortlist of artworks, and Abrielle will find out her results at the end of the month. We wish her all the best and congratulate her for her efforts.

Well done, Abrielle!
