Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey

Our school is conducting a survey for parents/caregivers/guardians to gain feedback on where the school is performing well and areas for future improvement.

This is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement.  The survey is optional, although we encourage all families to participate.  Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.  This year we are inviting all families to participate in the survey.

The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey will be open from Monday 7 August to Friday 8 September 2023.

Parent/Caregiver/Grandparent Helpers

As a school, we are eager to provide increased opportunities for parents, caregivers and grandparents to volunteer in the school.  We love seeing so many of our grandparents at drop-off and pick-up and welcome them to volunteer if that would be of interest.  Please note that all volunteers must provide evidence of a current Working with Children Check to the office before engaging in the opportunities below. WWCCs are free and the turnaround time is generally quite quick.

Some of the volunteer opportunities include:

Upkeep of our veggie garden

Now that we are in the process of rejuvenating our veggie garden, we are keen to involve our families in its upkeep and maintenance.  Please contact Mrs Kerr, Mrs Waugh or the school office if you are able to assist.

Reading in Foundation

Our Foundation teachers are always seeking helpers to read with their students. Please contact the one of the teachers or the school office if you would like to assist.

Covering new reading resources

We are always updating and adding to the amazing depth of texts available to the staff and students in our library.  Mrs Douglas and Mrs Waugh are always looking for volunteers to cover these books before making them available on the shelves.  Please contact either of them or the school office if you can assist in this space.

Whole School Communication

A reminder that from Monday 7 August we will begin trialling the use of Sentral's news feed functionality to filter the following communication to either the whole school, year levels or individual classes:

  • Important information/reminders
  • Promotion of events/excursions/incursions

Class Dojo News Feed

Class Dojo will continue to be used as follows:

  • 1:1 communication between teachers and families.
  • Staff posting pictures to celebrate classroom learning or school events.

Please also be reminded that I encourage the importance of work/life balance with our staff.  Staff will send and respond to Dojo communication, between the hours of 8.30am - 5.30pm.  Staff will always endeavour to respond to families within 24 hours as the priority of our staff is the face-to-face teaching of their students. The 24-hour response time also applies to email communication.  Should messages be of a more urgent/timely nature, please do not hesitate to contact the school office between 8.30am - 4.30pm.

Kind Regards,

Robert Ridgway
