A message from our Principal
Dear St. Brendan's School Community,
It has been a busy few weeks at school as we have been organising the Year 5/6 classes.
The students that moved into other classes have settled extremely well. We have provided extra support to the classrooms with Heather Woodman, Jhett Cooper and Ethan Baxter supporting the students.
The 5/6 teachers in Nick Iorianni, Sam Beks, Ted Lindon, Jo Baldacchino and Millie Casey have been extremely positive and have worked with Joel Brian, Heather Woodman and myself to cater for all the students in all the classes.
Many thanks to all these Teachers and Learning Support Staff for adapting to change in such a positive way. Thanks to our students who have shown great resilience.
Farewell
On Friday we farewell Jake Enright who leaves us to work in Benalla where he lives.
We thank Jake for his enthusiasm and care of our Foundation/1 students. We wish him all the best at his new school and also on the upcoming birth of his first child.
A letter will be sent to all children in F/1 Enright today to inform the parents of the new Staff member.
Working With Children's Check
Just a reminder to parents that there are many Working with Children Checks which have expired. Can you please check your card, and if it has expired, please obtain a new one.
As you can put down to register as a 'Volunteer' for St. Brendan's, there is no charge. If you have never obtained one, it would be great to apply as this allows you to read in the classrooms etc.
You can apply through the Working with Children Check Victoria Website.
Parents and Friends
Please look at the Pie Drive Flyer in the Parents and Friends section of this newsletter for some great pies to order.
Monsignor Peter Jeffrey
Last Thursday, some of our staff attended the Celebration Mass for Monsignor Peter's 60th Anniversary of his ordination as a Priest.
Monsignor Peter is an inspirational, spirit filled man who spent time at St. Brendan's as Parish Priest and now is at St. Mary's Mooroopna.
The Mass was a beautiful celebration with people attending from Fiji, New Zealand and all parts of Australia.
It was followed by a dinner at the GV Hotel. It was a wonderful night with very good guest speakers. Monsignor Peter also danced with the Fijian Community on stage.
Our School gave Monsignor Peter three beautiful books on History of Shepparton, History of Bendigo and local heroes.
Monsignor Peter dropped in this week to thank us and loved the books the school community gave him.
Kind regards,
Paula Stevenson
