Catholic Identity

Creator God, we follow in the footsteps of Jesus, as we walk together on your path of love, hope and faith.

Thank you for the gifts of our school,

our environment, our families and friends.

May our school be a place of learning, care, welcome and celebration.

Mary our Mother, pray for us.

St Mary of the Cross, pray for us.

Amen

This year’s theme for C.E.Sandhurst schools is

“Let the words you speak always be full of grace.”

As we continue to spread the Good News, we are called to be people of dialogue,

using our words as instruments of love.

We will encourage those in our care to speak kindly to one another in the classroom, the playground, on the bus, in the car and at home.

                                              19th Sunday Year A

From last Sunday's reading Elijah finds shelter in a cave at Horeb. The Lord instructs him to stand outside. Amid powerful elements, God’s presence is found in a tiny whisper, prompting awe and reverence.

In the second reading Paul is talking to the Romans about Christ’s truth.

He says he bears witness to his great sorrow and anguish for his people.

Despite their blessings, he’d sacrifice for their salvation.

Paul calls them his own, and he longs for their redemption.

During the gospel in Matthew 14:22-33, after feeding thousands, Jesus goes to pray alone. Disciples cross the lake by boat, struggling in a storm. Jesus walks on water, calming their fears.

Peter walks briefly but doubts, sinking until Jesus rescues him.

Disciples worship Jesus, recognising His divine power.

God is with us in all situations: in the loudness of life, through the silence and calm times.

Let us pray…

Dear God,

We are grateful that You put our fears away and give rest to our souls.

Remembering God's enduring mercy, let us call to mind our sins …

Lord Jesus, you came to reconcile us to one another and to the Father:

Lord, have mercy.

Lord Jesus, you heal the wounds of sin and division:

Christ, have mercy.

Amen

                                                                 SACRAMENTS

Bishop Shane Mackinlay came to Rushworth on Sunday August 6th to confirm 11sacramental candidates. The children and their sponsors all presented very reverently, and the Mass and light luncheon that followed was enjoyed and appreciated by all present.
