F/1/2 News

The F/1/2 students have continued to have a great term of learning.

They had an absolute blast at the whole school excursion on Friday. The students loved looking at the animals at the Aquarium and the exhibitions at the Museum. Some of the students have stated that they enjoyed the penguins, jellyfish, Pharlap, and the olden day house from the different locations. At the Aquarium, the students participated in a guided tour and got to learn a lot of different facts about the animals. They were so shocked to learn that the crocodile was real with it being so still in the tank. At the museum, we had a session about how toys have changed through the years in our My Grandmother’s Toybox session, we then had time to freely explore the other exhibits. The learning that occurred at the excursion will continue to support our class for the rest of this term and next term as well.

In English, we are looking at non-fiction texts. Today we looked at a non-fiction text about turtles. We used the information that we gained from the book and the excursion to start creating our own turtle fact book. We will be continuing to investigate non-fiction texts through animal books for the rest of term.

In Maths, we are learning about division and multiplication. Currently we are focusing on division and how to make even groups. Some of the students have also been expanding into discussing remainers when a collection cannot be shared evenly.

                              Grade 3/4 News

This fortnight in the grade 3/4 room we have been learning about Angles, Pattern and algebra as well as Poems.

We have been working on finding angles in the environment around us, we even got to draw on the tables to label the angles we found!

We enjoyed our visit with St Josephs Nagambie for our annual St Mary MacKillop feast day. Aliesha enjoyed catching up with one of her friends she made at camp last year. We also enjoyed making a collaborative artwork with the St Josephs Nagambie students.

Our Highlight from this fortnight was visiting the Melbourne museum and aquarium. At the Aquarium we learnt about all kinds of aquatic animals including Penguins, Jelly fish and Crocodiles. Our guide Catherine taught us about symbiotic relationships and how two living things can work together in there environment.

At the Museum we learnt about dinosaurs and old toys and devices. We enjoyed exploring the installations and learning some interesting facts.
