Along with chilly weather Term 3 has many exciting things coming up!
This term in Literacy students will begin to build their core knowledge through reading and building their vocabulary. We will be studying DreamTime stories and comparing similar texts and connecting print and images. Students will continue with their study of morphology, examine homophones and continue writing complex sentences. When creating texts students will focus on creating informative texts and write from the perspective of people from the past.
This term students are continuing their learning about fractions, and exploring improper fractions, converting them to mixed numbers and locating fractions on a number line. We will continue to focus on our knowledge of time and look at converting time using am and pm notation. Students will begin to explore measurement including length, area, capacity and temperatures.
We had a wonderful time celebrating our learning last term in Geography. This term we are focusing on Australian History. We will begin this term with a focus on our First Nations Peoples and learning about how they cared for the land before colonisation. We will explore their traditional customs, archaeological sites and perspectives of Indigenous people from the past. We will then begin to learn about the exploration of Australia and early settlement life. Students and their teachers will work together to create a timeline that reflects Australia’s history.
