Year 2

Hello Year 2 Families!

Welcome back for Term 3! We are excited to share what we will be learning this term with you.

Literacy

In Literacy, students will be introduced to Stage 7.2 graphemes and phonemes of our Little Learners Love Literacy program. 

This term we are beginning to explore non-fiction texts and the features that are included in them such as Title Page, Table of Contents, Headings, Glossary and Fact Files.

In Writing, we will be learning how to identify and write compound sentences. We will build on our knowledge of simple sentences that include a subject and a verb from term 2.

Numeracy 

In Numeracy, the students will develop their understanding of multiplicative thinking through our Math EDI lessons. Students will spend time exploring a range of strategies to support their understanding such as groups of, arrays, repeated addition and skip counting as seen below. We will be focussing on the multiples of 2, 3, 5 and 10. You may like to practise skip counting at home forwards and backwards from any starting point.

This term we will be learning about Australia in relation to other places in the world. We will be taking a closer look at each state and territory and exploring things such as the location in Australia, Indigenous links, landmarks, tourist attractions and weather patterns.
