Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
At the end of Term 2 Mrs Helen O’Neill finished her time with St Philomena’s School after 25 years. Her commitment to the school's Secondary School and her contributions to the language education program have surely left a lasting impact on both students and colleagues.
Mrs. O'Neill's engaging teaching style, vibrant classroom, and the numerous trips to Japan she organized for students, are testaments to her passion for fostering cultural understanding and language proficiency. Her efforts have enriched the educational experience for many students over the years.
While her presence will be missed, we join the school community in wishing her all the best in her new endeavors and future pursuits.
It’s great to see that the students have settled back into their school routine. Term 3 is certainly off to a busy start.
Students in Year 4, 5 & 6 have enjoyed many wonderful experiences while on their respective camps in Dubbo, Sydney and Canberra. Acknowledging the hard work and dedication of both school staff and parents in organizing and supervising these excursions is important. Such experiences contribute significantly to the students’ overall growth and learning beyond the classroom.
Across the school, Parent/ Teacher conferences have taken place providing parents with valuable feedback on student achievement and areas for growth.
Secondary students attended the Moree Careers expo, a wonderful experience that gave them the opportunity to speak with employers and training groups to gather information about possible career pathways. Selected students also participated in the Secondary Diocesan Athletics Carnival on Wednesday 9 August in Tamworth.
World Youth Day Update
Father Damien, Miss Roache and Miss McMahon continue their pilgrimage in Portugal, gathering together with other young people. World Youth Day is an event for young Catholics which was initiated by Pope John Paul II in 1985. It’s an encounter with God, the Pope, and the wider Catholic Church. Currently, the pilgrims are gathering to form the body of the Church where they are listening to the word of God which is being delivered by the Holy Father. At this event young people will give witness to their faith and connect with Catholic youth from across the world.
Over the remainder of Term 3 we have a number of exciting events to look forward to including Book Week, Father’s Day liturgy and gathering, Grandparent’s Day and Spring Fair.
God Bless,
Richard
Acting Principal
