From the Principal, Diana Ellis

Celebrations
This week at Staff Meeting our staff all shared celebrations about the wonderful things that we have achieved this term. There was sharing about our curriculum practices, the effectiveness of teams, the strong collaboration and samples of student successes.
I am proud of the way my staff go about their work with such integrity and always with best interests of our students underpinning everything we do. We consistently receive feedback from visitors and relief staff about how welcoming our staff are and this is evidenced by how supportive they are of each other and how collaboratively they work together.
School Council – Jennifer Henderson
I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself as the incoming School Council President of 2019. Firstly, thank you to Brad Dean for the last 3 years serving in the role. During Brad’s time as president, he supported the school through some key school changes; the appointment of our new principal – Diana Ellis, the Capital Works project and the school review process. Brad is continuing his contribution as a member of the School Council.
I am looking forward to this new role and would like to use my passions, skills and strengths to support the school. I have a background in education and specialise in disabilities, and I have recently completed Diploma in Positive Psychology and wellbeing. I have taught general primary (P-7) and special needs, consulted for the education department, and had an acting role as deputy principal. I am passionate about education, the role of educators, and the community in providing the best possible opportunities for children to learn and flourish.
A little bit of information about School Council. The School Council’s primary role is to provide governance to the school, which enables the school to carry out their core business effectively in accordance to the Department of Education’s requirements and values. It is made up of 15 people, two thirds are parent representatives and one third is school staff members, with the principal as the Executive Officer.
If you have interest in the school council, please come and talk to me or email me at jnhenderson2012@gmail.com
Cross Country
This week Mrs. Graham and I attended the Cobaw Cross Country. We were highly impressed by the efforts of our students and the exemplary sportsmanship that they demonstrated towards their own peers and students form other schools. We also thank the strong support from the many parents who attended and of course the efforts of staff in organisation required for the event and the training and support for our students.

Tomorrow our Foundation to Year 3 students will all participate in an Easter Hat Parade on the oval at 9. 10am. We look forward to seeing you there. Don't forget that school finishes early at 2.30pm.

ANZAC Day
Once again our senior class Student Leaders will be representing our school in the ANZAC Day march in Woodend.
The march commences from the top of High Street at 11 am, stopping firstly at the Woodend Clock Tower for wreath laying and then continuing along Anslow Street to the Woodend RSL where a ANZAC Day Service is conducted by members of the RSL, local council dignitaries, various school captains, Community Groups and other representatives.
