COVID-19 Emergency Fees Relief Fund - Thank You

A heartfelt thank you to everyone in our community who has been in a position in recent weeks to support our school community by making a donation to the COVID-19 Emergency Fees Relief Fund.  

There are a number of families who are facing challenging times due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so your support will assist those families to continue their child's enrolment at The Friends' School.

Every gift to the School is appreciated, but it is especially touching at this time when so many are facing uncertainty and feeling the health and economic impacts of COVID-19. We have been inspired by our community’s shared values and generosity.

Bursaries at Friends'

Along with supporting our current families who may be experiencing challenging times, the School recently provided some new bursary opportunities for new students to attend the School.  Subject to a range of factors, such as levels of funding and available spaces in relevant year groups, these bursaries are for new students, where their family would otherwise not have the financial means to access a Friends’ education. These bursaries are offered to students who demonstrate the desire to learn and involvement in their current school community.  If you know a prospective student who may benefit from a Friends' education, please do not hesitate to share information with their parent/guardian on the Scholarships and Bursaries web page or ask them to chat with Jen or Melinda in our Enrolments Office - enrol.office@friends.tas.edu.au

Annual Giving Update

Recently we wrote to the community to advise that given the current environment and the widespread impact of the COVID-19 virus on our community, we had made the decision not to run our Annual Giving program in 2020. We believe that this is an appropriate and responsible decision at this time. 

As a compassionate community-orientated institution, we have both supported those around us and been supported by the Friends’ community for over 130 years. These times are no different.  Whilst our normal programs are suspended, should you be in a position to support families within our school community, we would encourage you to make a donation to the  COVID-19 Emergency Fees Relief Fund. This Fund was established recently by the Board of Governors to directly support those school families, who are experiencing financial hardship as a result of the pandemic, to assist with the continuing enrolment of their child during 2020.

While donations to the COVID-19 Emergency Fees Relief Fund are not currently tax-deductible due to ATO regulations, your gift will be greatly appreciated by families who have been significantly affected during this crisis.
