House Report

Flagstaff
Philanthropic:
The Flagstaff team has had 31 eager students, from both Flagstaff and other houses, collect their t-shirts, tins and receipt books in order to raise money for the Redcross Calling! It’s incredible to see such a large involvemnet from both oue house and the houses around the school. If you see them around make sure you give them some words of encouragement (and ofcourse any loose change) to help them on their way. Flagstaff and Redcross thank you!
Swim Sports:
Terrific effort by those who came to Swim Sports this year! Your red caps filled the pool and your spirit filled the hearts! It wasn’t reflected in the scores (5th place) but the Flagstaff Team is proud of each and everyone of you!
Athletics Carnival:
A tremendous improvement on attendance for Aths sports compared to swim sports. The Flagstaff team spirit was second to none and your participation locked in SECOND PLACE for our house this year. Well done Flagstaff!
Congratulations to Hannah Van Zyl, Trey Ahu, Ben Annett, Matt Noonan and Moriah Smith for going above and beyond in your areas!!!
Merri
The recent Athletic Sports allowed Merri students from all year levels to compete in a wide range of events, and earn points for their house when doing so. Merri students grabbed this opportunity with both hands, allowing us to eventually come away with the WIN! This is a testament to our high levels of participation and athletic prowess. Success is becoming a term used often amongst Merri students when competing against each other, the love of a challenge inspires Merri students to push even further!
A moment to recognise some of our Athletic talent:
- Age group champions swimming
- Stella Bridgewater
- Rhiannah Peverett
- Age group champions athletics
- Naticia Varley
- Renee Saulitis
- Zac Dyson
With the year 7/8 camps approaching fast, the term is not far from completion. Naturally, we have some students who have earned a considerable amount of merits during this time. Each time a merit is earned it’s in recognition for doing something great, whether it be a consistent approach, or an ability to help others, every merit is well deserved. We have some students with an exceptional amount of merits. Currently our leader board is:
18 merits (two points off first prize for the year
- Tayah Duthie
- Fina Maulyda
17 merits (three points off first prize for the year)
- Madelaine Bryant
- Adeline Reeve
Reports will be out soon, you may notice a correlation between the number of merits and the effort and attitude column. If you’re disappointed with your result, ask your teacher what changes you could make to improve!
Our year 9’s will soon be performing their Mock Job Interviews in front of some local business professionals, and it has been great to see their confidence growing when communicating. We hope our year 7/8’s enjoy their camps and Altitude days, where an opportunity to create an even better school environment is encouraged. Enjoy the last two weeks of term Merri.
